About

Philip Hauge Reitz (1994) is a Danish visual artist primarily working with abstract painting. He is particularly fascinated by the combination of aesthetics, high-quality materials, and a often minimalist expression. Philip’s approach involves systems, where multiple layers are built upon one another. He finds it intriguing when a piece appears calm and harmonious from a distance yet reveals depth, history, and vibrant colors upon closer inspection. The contrast between strict structure and the organic, imperfect brushstrokes is also a key element in his work. Other works are more experimental, and focus on the emotions that may be present in the moment. His artworks are typically given arbitrary and abstract titles that do not directly relate to the piece itself, often sparking new associations and narratives for the individual viewer. He is interested in the physical and psychological exploration of abstract art, both in the process and in the finished work. It is the inner journey that the viewer can experience that is most important to Philip.

His journey in visual art started in 2020, where he since has worked with many differet mediums, tools and surfaces. In 2025 he began working professionally as a fulltime artist, from his studio in the heart of Aarhus City, at Kunsthus Tese. Before getting in to art, Philip had many years of professional experience in graphic/digital design and electronic music production. Formally, he has an education in EUX Business from EUC Nordvestsjælland. In addition to selling artworks to private collectors and businesses throughout Denmark, Philip has exhibited various art prints, in stores such as Magasin. Furthermore, he has completed an extensive course in art and communication with Henriette Hellstern, who holds an MFA from the Funen Art Academy.
